Sun slumbering into snow dogs,

Pin oaks guarding their leaves,

Fading attachments to their caregiver,

Eyes of moon,

Skin of ash,

Cramping fingers,

Clinging to comfort with

Their refuge in bitter wind.

Leaves take to faith

Though ripped from the branches

And swept away for flight

To earthen mulch.

And beds for worms.

I, The Tired Moon

I, The Tired Moon

They tell me when the sun has gone

Behind the cloud, that night has come

For one more moment, swift.

I run to greet the shadow on the sandy beach

Of pebbled stars in clear shark night.

The roaming wave of humid blindness

Feels for my vivid form in nothingness,

But I find comfort in the sprinkle of light

As it blooms in the misty soil

From somewhere in the sanctum

Of my soul.

Frail, as a damp twig,

I, the tired moon, salute the coming day.

It begins again, a new wave to flow

On the deserted shore of wavy grass,

Shifted by the moving wind,

Cleansed by the awakening dew within.

Birds, peaked in song,

Bless the rays of sun,

Which soothe my growing shadow

On the tide of time.

The wind brushes past

The gray clouds in the dale.

Night leaves the ship;

Day has set sail.

When Eclipsed

When Eclipsed

When eclipsed by the moon,

The sun did not cry

As much as I did,

For their union was bound

By the glistening ring and

All Earth collapsed into slumber

As birds tucked into their wings

To the cicadas’ chorus

Of tunes chilling the midday heat

To cloud mist:

Darkness to the dance

Of Solar and Lunar

Opened to the jewel

Of another day and

Revelers praised the wonder of

This exquisite union.

Dark Mother
Seeks to wed.
Gossamer star dust,
Ancient nights,
The trail of her train,
Her Groom,
The Sun.

The Eye

The sprays of light on the floor
Form beasts on haunches with claws stretched
As if ready to pounce.
On the wall, the moonlight prints a window,
For me to view the Netherworld,
With wind thrashing the trees.
On the door, a reptilian eye,
Cast by light and shadows,
Holding court over my dreams.
A sigil unlocking mysteries and riddles
To solve in nightmares.

Sunflowers dreaming

Of Pleiades’ fairies

Gracing the night

In search of Hyades,

Creating constellations in the trees;

Tiny orbs revealing the

Souls of the elementals

Departing to the moon.

Back to a Sleep with Oneness

Rain embracing succulent earth,

Feeding her star seeds

Planted by moonlight fingers

Extending to meadows and hatchlings

Crying for their banquet.

Gardens bursting with harvest

Springing from tender sprouts

And forest saplings.

Clouds lifting mists

Delivered to the sun

Back to a sleep with oneness

Until a new day.
