“A New World” recited by Lilly o’Wisp

I’ve been blessed by the many people I’ve met and corresponded with as Editor of MasticadoresUSA. One is Lilly o’Wisp, whose beautiful art illustrates poetry by Myriam Descendres on MasticadoresUSA.

Lilly’s YouTube Channel, Les Nouvelles Errent, offers other poetry recitations from Gabriela Marie Milton’s best-selling anthology Hidden in Childhood, recently published by Literary Revelations, Gabriela’s new company. Please check out Lilly’s YouTube channel, and like and subscribe. Also, Gabriela’s sites, Short Prose and Literary Revelations, are also on WordPress. Please follow her too. You won’t be disappointed.

The original title for this poem was “Oh, Child”, which is also the first line of the poem. I changed the title to “A New World” because I read that newborns hold the promise of a new earth. All too often I feel we forget the hope babies bring to us. That hidden treasure can either burn or blossom in childhood, depending on life’s circumstances, mainly the family’s support and love.

A New World
(for Abby Jean Harris on the day of her birth)

Oh, Child,
How you hold your form
Soul of infant stars
Ready to go nova
Bud of tree
Rooting in familiar soil
Infusing wisdom
Hatchling with hope
Fledging with wing
Seeking flight over all
Leaf, spring green
Uncurling for air
With perfect fingers
Pure soul
Chaste stream
How you feed life
How you inspire love
May you breathe in Light
May you be Light.

You can see one of Lilly’s art pieces in this poem by Myriam published on MasticadoresUSA.
