Butterflies on Mud Island: A Kayaker’s Adventure

Published by

My husband, Dierik, took this video of butterflies on Mud Island, a large sandbar that he named on the Missouri River. A couple of years ago, when the water receded after a flood, new life emerged. Flowering plants, bees, monarch butterflies, and moths. Some flowers reminded him of Dr. Seuss stories and smelled of lavender. Take a look at this little wonderland.

Me too! I don’t kayak. I live through him vicariously. 🙂

After seeing a young man practice flipping over a kayak and righting it from underwater, we bought a canoe.

I’ve been canoeing, and my husband tortures me by acting like the canoe is going to tip over. 🙄

Not cool. My husband has tried that a time or two with me.
