I am delighted to have a sonnet in this anthology. My gratitude to Lisa Tomey-Zonneveld and Zaneta Varnado Johns! Their announcementβ¦
πβ¨ We are thrilled to present these exceptional poems crafted by devoted poets! β¨π
When we issued the call for submissions, we encouraged writers to contemplate these questions: β’ What do you celebrate about life? β’ Who do you celebrate and why? β’ When do you feel most joyful? β’ How do you define joy? β’ Where do you find the most happiness? β’ How does joyfulness feel to you? β’ Why is it important to find joy?
The responses we received were abundant and significant. Now is your opportunity to delve into the works of these remarkable poets and experience their unique perspectives.

MY POEM IN CADENCE
Gold: A Sonnet
Caches of memories, the hidden biography of our lives.
Are we present to tears falling into streams of silence?
Do we hear the heart pulsing each shallow breath?
Do we notice the taste of ice? The sound of a leaf
screaming when wrenched from a branch by autumn wind?
The songs of hunger from a swan in a wetland pond?
The sting of sorrow burning the tongue and throat?
Our eyes sparkle, fireflies born to blaze
yet dimming into a flicker. Our glorious moments lapse
into a drowsy forever, or a haze on hopeβs horizon.
We cling to invisible kisses and lost shadows.
The lips sing hymns then wail laments.
How we sleep unlit, not seeking the hidden treasure
of the forever mundane lingering in our thirsty souls.
