Thank you, Ken, for reviewing Three-Penny Memories: A Poetic Memoir on Amazon! I appreciate your keen insights! (His review follows my comments.)

Grief work is a sacred process. When I saw my mother failing and begged her to choose a child to live closer to, she chose me. My uncle’s question, “Do you love your mother”, sent me to grief counseling. I believe he wanted me to consider the ramifications of my role as a caregiver to a loved one navigating Alzheimer’s. I examined my life with Mom. Was I helping her out of love or out of obligation?

This life review revealed gifts but also wounds. Grief work can be daunting. The poems were not easy to write because loving and forgiving can require grueling self-examination balanced with sensitivity and compassion. I’m grateful to Ken and other caregivers for sharing their experiences because…

There’s no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.

Happy to do it and highly impressed with the format. So much so you inspired me to try my hand at writing a memoir…if I can remember everything worth writing about!
