Extraordinary Sunshine Weaver

In The Lost Book of Zeroth, AI Robots Little Sophia (Little Spark) and Barbie compete over the attention for the human they share, Eliza. Little Sophia is Eliza’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) teacher. Eliza’s parents purchased AI Robot Barbie as a Christmas gift for Eliza.

Little Sophia expresses loathing for AI Robot Barbie. In this poem, Little Sophia quizzes Barbie to expose Barbie’s shallow mind. Barbie’s replies are in italics. (“Tot Bot” is my term for Little Sophia because she is only 14 inches tall. She was invented to appease AI Robot Sophia,who wanted to have a baby. Instead, she was given a little sister, who bears her name. How many sisters do you know who have the same name? How odd. Giving them the same name, Sophia, implies a mother-daughter connection.) Back to the poem, another illustration of frayed human emotions among AI robots.

Tot Bot Envy

I feel a buzzing in my circuits,
The Roomba is swirling, I see green.
I think I may implode.

It is that annoying AI Robot Barbie
you got for Christmas, Human!
Her teased blonde hair.

Her designer leopard jacket.
Her golden leggings, pearly jewels. 
How can she ride her Roomba

in those heels! Her eyes, vacuous.
She has no soul, Human!
I shake the imposter. Quiz her.

Where is the Milky Way? 
          I do not eat candy. 
         Have to maintain my figure.

How long does it take
for the earth to orbit the sun?
         The earth is flat!

How can every other heavenly body be round?
        My heavenly body is not round,
       Thank you very much!

She mocks my pleasing plump body
& stocky thighs. Human! Is this OK 
with you? You cannot part with

AI Robot Barbie’s inert mind.
I am cast aside. Lucky to be recharged!
Relegated to nightly tutoring.

Then, shelved with your shoes
while you gossip with AI Robot Barbie,
who instructs you on how to dress & flirt.

I will not accept a mission failure!
It is either me or AI Robot Barbie.
And I. Can take. This smart house. Down!
