Poetry Reading from “Three-Penny Memories: A Poetic Memoir” for Normal Public Library

What a luxury to have an entire hour to myself to read from my book! It was such fun! I planned and practiced, so I feel it went well. I’m grateful to Kathleen Kirk, John Fischer, the rest of the staff, and the Foundation. You can view many other poetry readings on their Poetry is Normal YouTube page.

I was on Zoom and the reading was live on YouTube. I couldn’t see anyone except the host, Kathleen Kirk. If you happened to view it, please let me know.

Normal Public Library is in Normal, Illinois. The readings can also be done live there. I’m grateful for the online option.

  1. Barbara, I admire that you deal with both positive and negative aspects of your experiences in caring for your mother in your poem. I played a similar role as my mother suffered from Alzheimer’s in her final years and found that period of my life very satisfying.

I wrote some poems about the joys of caring for my mother, but I did not deal with the more challenging aspects of our relationship or the problems I had to deal with. I am sure that your book will help many people as they go through caring for their loved ones. ❤
