Grateful to Contemplate for publishing a new poem about my mother on Medium. I guess I’m still working through some grief. I was thinking about how much I knew about my mother and yet she was still a stranger. I wanted to see her whole life day by day pass before my eyes. I wish I had asked more questions, but my parents sometimes felt uncomfortable with questions.
My favorite portrait of her makes me even more curious. I feel her eyes and “not smile” tell – or hide – a story.
