Do we abuse AI robots? If there is danger, who is sent to do the job? Not the biologicals, who may lose their lives trying to rescue fallen soldiers, construct Martian habitats, defend Earth from asteroids heading our way, and explore booby-trapped spaces. Like the incredible tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. His immense tomb is described in the following poem in The Lost Book of Zeroth. In this poem, AI Robots Optimus and Astribot are commissioned to enter the tomb, which humans fear to do because of the possible booby traps and toxic air owing to the rivers of mercury. I can’t help but feel sorry for these titanium pals, who must face danger for us biologicals.

We Have No Mouth, We Cannot Scream

Optimus & Astribot, hired for a dangerous
Mission X to venture into the underground tomb
of China’s first emperor, set off the booby traps,
sparing Biologicals grisly deaths, & then explore
the chambers containing rivers of mercury, an elixir
flowing solely for the continuing good health
of this self-lauded royal, & find the catacombs of treasures

hidden within the palace & protected by the crumbled remains
of legions of horses, warriors, court jesters & concubines,
unwittingly captured alive inside this grand tomb along with
thousands of fully armed Terracotta warriors, horses
& stables surrounding this palatial city to serve & protect
Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who feared mutiny & whose greatness
was so immense that he could not face immortality alone.
