How fun! Cindy Georgakas invited me to collaborate on a poem. My verses are in italics, and hers are the rest. Enjoy!
Days Like Water
Days like water slip through my fingers.
I try to catch it, but itβs a fruitless endeavor.
Somedays I land in a puddle,
swimming like a fish out of water..
Or cry a river. I’m the clouds, holding
all the tears of this lifetime of our world’s sorrowsβ
Iβm a thunderbolt, striking alarms in a storm.
Setting fires in a drought.
Oceans riseβTsunamis rage.
How fast can I run from this torrential chaos?
Who will rescue me?
Wash the mud from my eyes?
My true companion, rubber duckie, who keeps me afloat,
making waves with a little bubbly for a little levity.
