My poems are heartfelt and revealing, so I feel vulnerable. However, the support I’m getting will help me read the poems tomorrow without choking.
This book is dedicated to my mother, who died on April 3, 2016. I was her main caregiver as she navigated the progression of Alzheimer’s. Poetry helped me to excavate the layers of grief I held as I cared for her. Despite the healing that blessed me, now that the book is public, I feel a new layer of grief weeping and a great deal of gratitude as the reviews roll in.
