Enjoy these wacky poems by the Rengay Ladies! We had a blast composing them. The Google Gremlins are still giggling!
The poems follow these links.
Joy Comes in the Morning
My car wouldn’t start.
I pushed it off a cliff and watched
the luminous sunrise.
Sunrise paid two bird tweets for my junker car
and donated it to Butterflies Anonymous.
The brilliant sunshine smashed my coffee maker,
spilling my joy into puddles. A voice spoke, “Too much
caffeine will give your tummy butterflies!”
I knew the voice wasn’t God—
God knows there’s no such thing as too much caffeine.
But Death, Death won’t let me
drink the whole pot.
He says he wants some, too.
I offer him a cup of brew, extra leaded.
He says it tastes like Heaven.

You’re the Cream in My Cadaver
Sweet love poems make me
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag
and give me cavities.
I dedicate my root canals to you,
Oh, Sweet Love! And my dental caps!
Tired of romance
I read gritty crime novels
about killing dentists.
I can kill my dentist
by not paying the bill.
Why support a guy who wants to
drill baby drill? He goes after me
like a gold digger.
I strangle him with mint floss,
and gargle salt water memories.

Boogers
winter white
the wall painted
with boogers
bored toddler
paints the walls
with poop
tired Mommy
scrubs the walls
forgets to cook
daughter asks
“can I microwave
bagels?”
instead, she paints
her hair fire-engine red
with Mommy’s lipstick
Mommy draws a bath
daughter scribbles the walls
with red balloons 🎈🎈🎈
frustration
turns to sadness
winter blues
daughter fingerpaints
the walls blue
adds a bright yellow sun
walls are palettes
a child’s journal
a mother’s memories
