Yongbo Ma published his Chinese translations of three of my poems in a magazine, “Dipper International Poetry Forum,” Issue 4, ISSN 1321-3622. Unfortunately, I do not have a link.
Here are my poems along with Yongbo’s translations.
A Broken Heart
A broken heart
The construct of love breached
Rivets on the bridge
snap in a storm
The dam opens
Grief spills in torrents
flooding with tears
the home in the valley
Trails and journeys
wash away
bury hope in sediment
Lives stiffen into artifacts
A heart is a quilt sewn
with one continuous thread
Many layers
Joy stitches onto grief
Grief onto hope
Hope onto despair
Despair onto joy
A heart completes itself.
What is breaking is
already mending
一颗破碎的心
一颗破碎的心
爱的构造遭到破坏
桥梁上的铆钉
在暴风雨中断裂
堤坝溃决
悲伤如洪流般涌出
泪水淹没了
山谷中的家园
道路与旅程
被冲刷殆尽
希望被沉积物掩埋
生命僵硬成了遗物
心是一床被子
用一根不断的线缝制而成
有许多层
欢乐缝在悲伤之上
悲伤缝在希望之上
希望缝在绝望之上
绝望缝在欢乐之上
一颗心成就了它自己
正在破碎的
早已开始愈合
Shell Game
He’s a sure-footed mountain goat,
jumping, leaping, climbing up the peaks—
Electric Pass, Longs Peak, Mount Ouray—
any rugged terrain to the sun.
I’m a box turtle, slowly ascending
or just resting in the shade or by a pool
He returns often to nudge me along
and off he prances out of sight.
I lose my way on the Maroon Bells Trail,
taking a wrong turn where other turtles head and
sliding down a slippery slope onto patterns of prints
sculpting a map onto the forest floor
I amble into the Aspen shadows
looking for my love.
贝壳游戏
他是一只步履稳健的山羊，
蹦跳，腾跃，攀登着山峰——
电光山口，朗斯峰，乌雷山——
任何崎岖的地形，直奔向太阳。
我是一只箱龟，缓缓向上攀爬，
或是在树荫下和水洼旁歇脚。
他时不时地返回，轻轻顶我一下，
随即又蹦蹦跳跳地消失不见了。
我在褐铃山的步道上迷了路，
在其他乌龟常去的地方拐错了方向
滑下湿滑的斜坡，落在一张由足迹
在森林地面雕刻出的地图上
我慢慢挪进白杨的阴影之中
寻找我的爱人
The Wetlands
Country drives are clear of diseased air.
Sunflowers at the wetlands lower their heads
to face the setting sun.
A lone, injured pelican still thrives on carp
in Pool 3. At times, an egret swims
with him there. Or just a small flock
of pelicans appear, herding together to feed.
In the past, majestic swans
would glide through those waters.
The heron find their spots in all the pools,
but small numbers of egrets come and go.
An eagle builds a new nest farther from
our wandering eyes.
We miss that time so many migrations
converged: pelicans, geese, mallards.
The thriving flocks surrounded the car.
Today, we count the deer, their startled eyes
reflect what is.
湿地
乡间车道上没有一丝污浊的空气。
湿地边的向日葵低垂着头，迎向落日。
三号水池里，一只受伤的独居鹈鹕
仍在靠鲤鱼为生。有时，一只白鹭
会和它一起游来游去。又或者
只有一小群鹈鹕出现，聚在一起觅食。
从前，雄伟的天鹅
曾在这片水域滑行。
苍鹭在各个水池中找到栖息之所，
但白鹭却数量稀少，来来去去。
一只鹰筑起了新巢
远离我们游移不定的目光。
我们怀念那段时光
众多的迁徙鸟类汇聚一堂：
鹈鹕，大雁，绿头鸭。
欣欣向荣的鸟群环绕着我们的车。
如今，我们数着鹿，它们受惊的眼睛
映照出眼前的一切。
