I’m delighted to say I have three poems in this new anthology edited by Robbie Cheadle and Colleen M. Chesebro. The theme this year is dreams. My poems follow. The link to order the anthology is provided in this reblog and my post below.
1.
Rescued (A Tanka Puente)
Night dreams rupture silt
I dredge memories till dawn
Caught up in undertows
I’m pulled into deep traumas
I fight the abyss
Hope is a waking dream. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Dawn shimmers silver
I awaken on the cold sand
The rising sunlight
Blankets me like Mother’s love
Assures me of a new dream
2.
The Man of My Dreams (a Tanka Poem Tale)
I was jolted awake. Kneeling beside me on the bed, an alien being formed by shafts of light. He startled, as though he was caught dropping off his cargo—or was it that he was picking me up to take me God knows where, and I wrestled him, slipping out of his hands and falling hard.
Our eyes met in awe.
His bright blue gaze opened wide,
admitting he had screwed up.
When I looked away, he fled
to the stars, alone.
3.
(tanka)
my dream for this world
may kindness and compassion
inspire our minds, hearts, and souls
may we forgive ourselves and
create lasting peace
