One of my favorite writing challenges I hosted on Brave and Reckless since I launched the blog was the Moon Ate the Dark Challenge back in 2017. I still love the prompt and would love to see what new pieces of writing or art it might inspire. The Rules Write or create an original piece that embraces […]
My podcast, “Poetry: The Memoir of the Soul” has received a wonderful review by Stephen Fuller, Managing Editor of Go Dog Go Cafe. I’m so humbled and honored. 💐🍾🥰
After Michelangelo died, someone found in his studio a piece of paper on which he had written a note to his apprentice, in the handwriting of his old age: ‘Draw, Antonio, draw, Antonio, draw and do not waste time.’
Annie Dillard from The Writing Life page 79.
Write, friends, write, friends, write and do not waste time. As simple as that the wisdom of the great artist and genius, Michelangelo, has been coopted for us here at the Go Dog Go Café this week. And written we have… and posted and visited and commented and liked. This has been one of the most exciting weeks yet at the Café as the original vision of the café being a friendly place filled with warm, talented and inspiring people has come to fruition. We are building a healthy and supportive writing community that has attracted many like-minded souls who journey together writing…

I am new at this art form, so bear with me as I learn the ropes. 🌹
It’s just you and me, no team. We are enjoying tea or coffee and thoughts on one thing or another.

Thank you for your support!
My new two-part poetry podcast explores kindness and its antithesis, bullying, especially of children on the playground and online. My featured image is Izzy Dix, a beautiful 14-year-old UK girl who killed herself as a result of unrelenting bullying on social media. Before taking her life, she wrote a poem entitled, “I Give Up”, which I read. I also read poetry by Naomi Shihab Nye, Rilke, Emily Dickinson, and myself. You can access the podcasts at the link below.
Part I is 30 minutes and Part II is Around 20 minutes. In Part II, I rebroadcast a small part of Part I because of static and other noises which were too disruptive.
The featured image of Izzy Dix can be found in this article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/34256113/izzy-dix-took-her-life-at-14—then-her-mother-was-trolled-online
It’s heart breaking to learn that the bullies and trolls seemed to rejoice in Dix’s death and continue their abuse and provocations by sending Izzy’s mother mocked up pictures of Her daughter’s body. What can we do to heal this cancer in our society? Love is the strongest chemo, so we have to increase the dosage. Empathy, compassion, forgiveness and loving kindness are powerful healers if we choose to hold those vibrations in daily life. A smile, a kind greeting, an expression of gratitude, a good deed, all of these actions are life affirming acts of grace and mercy. No one is perfect, but we can all try to be better. Those who embrace the bullied can teach the bullies how to be human.

I hope you like my new poetry podcast on Podbean. Poetry: The Memoir of the Soul.
Mother Earth must be talking to me because I have written a lot about her lately. I have a couple of guest poets in this podcast. Walter Bargen and Sharon Singing Moon.
Sorry for any irrelevant noises. I may need a producer! 🤓 There is beauty in imperfection, right?

FREE VERSE REVOLUTION published my poem, What Mother Needs. ♥️
A Time to Heal
We are all one kind, one child
in the eyes of our wondrous Mother.
Our Mother’s lungs are shared by all;
we all breathe the same air.
Our tears, her tears.
Every cry of a newborn,
recorded on her fabric.
Every gun, shot in fear,
rips through our Mother,
her flesh, her bones, her breath,
and into dark matter out of sight.
Apprehension, the basis of all injury,
creates separation creates isolation creates animosity.
You are not alone in love.
Love heals torn limbs reaching for embrace.
Love constructs not just your soul,
but the soul of your Mother.
Distain and reverence cannot reside
in the same house.
Despair not. Despise not.
Love those that fear and hate.
This is the great challenge
It is your choice –
In fact, the most important choice,
to cherish with all your heart
regardless of fear of harm,
